Dr. John Hordyk
Dr. John Hordyk graduated with a BSc degree from the University of Guelph in 1982 and with a D.V.M degree from Ontario Veterinary College in 1986. He worked for two years in a mixed animal practice in Goderich. In 1988 he joined the Milverton-Wellesley Veterinary Services and became a partner in 1993. Dr. Hordyk’s focus is on food animal practice. His interests include camping, fishing, and archery. Dr. Hordyk lives with his family on a farm in North East Hope with a variety of pets.
Dr. Jeff Sommer
Dr. Jeff Sommer graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon in 2001. Originally from central Alberta, Jeff worked in a mixed animal practice north west of Edmonton, before moving to Ontario in 2002. He spent another two years working at a clinic in Bruce County before joining the Milverton-Wellesley Veterinary Services in 2004. Jeff has been a partner of the clinic since January 2010. Jeff is a mixed animal practitioner, focusing mostly on large animals, with a particular interest in dairy herd medicine. Jeff lives in Wellesley with his wife Jen, three children Emma, Kate and Daniel, as well as a yellow lab named Rowdy. In his time away from work, he enjoys golfing, hockey, and travelling. Jeff is also involved in his church, as a representative on the Board of Missions at Holy Cross Lutheran in Kitchener. He has been on two mission trips to Nicaragua doing veterinary related work, and hopes to return again next year.
Dr. Bill Hazen
Dr. Bill Hazen graduated from the Ontario Veterinary Clinic and has been with our clinic since 1979. His focus is on equine chiropractic and dentistry services. In his time away from the clinic, Dr Hazen runs an organic farm with his family. He also takes time to serve with Vets Without Borders.
Dr. Jason Brownridge
Dr. Jason Brownridge was born and raised on a dairy farm in Milton, Ontario with his two younger brothers. He graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2003, upon which he accepted a position at the Milverton Wellesley Veterinary Services. Dr. Brownridge is a mixed animal practitioner, with a primary focus on large animals. He has a keen interest in dairy herd health. For the past 7 years, Jason has been a co-leader of the Waterloo 4-H Veterinary Club, which has provided him the opportunity to share his knowledge and skills with aspiring youth of all ages. He currently lives in Bamberg with his wife and two daughters. In his spare time, Dr. Brownridge enjoys canoeing, camping, travelling, and playing hockey!
Dr. Shannon Finn
Shannon grew up in Baden and graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College this spring. She completed 3 years of an Animal Biology degree at the University of Guelph before getting into vet school. In 2017 she completed her 8-week OVC externship placement with our practice and thoroughly enjoyed working with the clinic team and meeting all of our great clients. She claims she “had such a good experience she knew it was where she wanted to work after graduation.”
Shannon’s areas of interest include bovine and small ruminant medicine and surgery, although she enjoys all aspects of large animal practice. In her spare time she is an avid reader, and loves hosting friends and family at her home in Baden.
Dr. Tanja Bihr
Dr. Tanja Bihr graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College and has been with us our clinic since 2003. She has a special interest in horses and small animals, but enjoys all aspects of a rural mixed animal practice. In her free time, she is an avid movie buff, loves to read, and also greatly enjoys travelling.
